- Profile
Spend the day on the spectacular Great Ocean Road in the comfort and intimacy of this genuine small group tour. We depart later than most other tours to avoid the crowds and those pesky big buses.
We have one central city pick up location at the Rendezvous Hotel, 328 Flinders Street, Melbourne. If you have ever been on a tour with hotel pick ups you will know how tedious and frustrating that can be. Many city pick up runs can take well over an hour of sitting in peak hour traffic driving from hotel to hotel and that’s before the tour even begins. The later departure time we offer as well as the time saved by having one pick up location gives you time to have a sleep in or a leisurely breakfast before departure. Be a smart traveller and let the others rush.
You will take in the sights of one of the worlds most spectacular coastal drives, lookouts and stunning photo opportunities a plenty. Be taken on a guided walk through a breathtaking ancient temperate rainforest then onto the world famous 12 Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge and Gibson Steps.
A morning tea, coffee or hot chocolate with biscuits and cake is included as well as a traditional Aussie pub dinner to finish the day. We stop in the beautiful town of Apollo Bay for lunch where you can choose from many different cafes and restaurants (at own cost) or alternatively bring your own lunch and enjoy a picnic by the sea. Bottled water is also supplied.
This is a full day tour, about 13 hours so its a good idea to be prepared. Make sure your camera/phone is fully charged because the Great Ocean Road is a photographers paradise, both professional and amateur. A full bottle of water is also recommended as is sunscreen. The Great Ocean Road can also have very changeable weather, tours run all year round but it can be cold during the winter months (June to August) so some warm clothes and jacket/raincoat is highly recommended. Even in summer the wind can be quite chilly at times as it blows of the wild southern ocean, so again, be prepared. We like to say that there’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing choices!!
Tours return to Melbourne City approximately between 9pm – 9.30pm in Winter and 9.30pm – 10pm in summer. We will happily drop you off at your accommodation in the city centre, southbank and the docklands upon return. If you are staying outside of the city we can make arrangements to drop you off at the correct train station/tram stop, just ask your guide on the day or send us a message and we can help you navigate the public transport system or suggest alternatives.
With a maximum of 11 guests on board seats will sell fast so don’t miss your opportunity to see The Great Ocean Road with Melbourne Small Group Tours.
